New technologies as a source for creative art making. Basic processes in digital video, sound, animation, interactive, and networked technologies. Integration of new technologies with more traditional media arts and art disciplines, including filmmaking, sculpture, painting, printmaking, photography, and ceramic arts.
Class Description:
Hello potential students! Experimental and Media Art is a pretty free-form exploration of the moving image, sound, installation, performance and conceptual art-making. My background is in filmmaking, so we focus on doing lots of shooting video, recording sound and editing. Expect a small media-making assignment pretty much every week, along with several larger projects over the course of the semester. Let me know if you have any questions!

Course Catalog Description:

Class Description:
Within ARTS 1601-02 Experimental and Media Arts students will learn the language of moving images, the logistics of film/audio production, and basic postproduction techniques, while developing an expressive use of the medium. They will explore their artistic voices and become more confident in ways of visual and aural expression. Students will produce 6 short projects over the course of the semester.
Grading:
15% Class Participation, including critical evaluation of student projects
85% Production of student projects
