Class Description:
How did human language evolve? Is language unique to humans? This course will examine the biology and structure of the vocal tracts and the communication systems of the brain, evidence for symbolism and language in primates, hominins, and other mammals, and modern human language diversity, including the roles of gossip, music, and reproduction in language acquisition.
