- Class Description:
- Each of us consumes services and cares about how they are delivered. Services generate nearly 80% of the U.S. GDP and provide billions of dollars in trade surplus. There is a continual need for new services, higher quality services, and more efficient services. In this course, we study many service industries - health care, retail, banking, professional services. We tackle issues unique to managing service organizations. Identifying service needs, designing servicescapes, and managing queues, and - most importantly - managing the people who deliver and consume services. That is, we study the employees, the customers, how to manage them, and how to create the 'right' experience for each and every one.
