This class will be a mix of entire class meetings and individual meetings with the professor. The class will meet as a whole on Thursdays only for the first few weeks of the semester and then again on Thursdays (and possibly Tuesdays, if needed) near the end of the semester. Course assignments and materials are designed to hone students' ability to formulate an interpretation of a cultural, literary, or linguistic object of the Spanish or Portuguese-speaking worlds; to support their reading with relevant examples and textual evidence; to adopt and maintain an analytical rhetorical stance; to employ a vocabulary and register appropriate for advanced academic discourse; and to integrate outside sources smoothly and effectively into their critical reading. The senior paper showcases the full range of skills and knowledge expected of students upon completion of the major programs of study, and ideally will represent the pinnacle of students' undergraduate trajectory.

En este curso el estudiante realizara su ?senior project? o proyecto final, un requisito para terminar el BA en Spanish and Portuguese Studies. En este curso el estudiante profundizara sus conocimientos sobre un/os aspecto/s culturales, literarios y/o sociales acerca del mundo ?hispano? definido de manera general. Este proyecto es en parte un proceso por lo cual el estudiante formula un tema, lo investiga y escribe sobre ello (en una serie de etapas y borradores) y en que la profesora sirve para consultar, para leer borradores y para calificar el trabajo/proyecto final tanto como evalua el performance del estudiante a lo largo del semestre y su habilidad de cumplir con los varios pasos en el desarrollo del proyecto.
