- Class Description:
- The main goal of this course is for the students to acquire the linguistic and cultural competence to communicate successfully using all three modes (interpersonal, interpretive, and presentational) on general topics about the target country. The content of this course will be drawn from various disciplines of India/Pakistan, thus students will not only reinforce their linguistic proficiency but also acquire basic and broad knowledge of the target country. Students will also be knowledgeable about the current affairs of India/Pakistan as magazine and newspaper articles will be used. Cultural elements will be addressed wherever necessary, and grammar points of higher difficulty and complexity will be also discussed.

- Class Description:
- This course seeks to develop skills in reading comprehension and textual analysis, as well as to enrich active vocabulary and idiomatic usage. It includes concentration on ability to engage in reasonably fluent discourse in Hindi, on comprehensive knowledge of formal grammar, and on the ability to read and understand a variety of texts,from newspaper and magazine articles to short stories. All students are required to work at least one hour each week with a native informant and/or in the language laboratory.
