Students will: a) learn to recognize and diagnose integrative leadership challenges and opportunities; b) build their own capacities to practice integrative leadership through group work in individualized peer-to-peer coaching in diverse teams and through being exposed to a range of boundary work practices; and c) gain better knowledge of the leadership contexts within their own profession and in other sectors. We emphasize contexts for integrative leadership at five basic levels: within individuals, within and across groups, within and across organizations, within and across sectors, and at the societal scale. Learning occurs through reading foundational materials, personal leadership coaching, engaging extensively with examples from guest speakers and case materials, developing a group capstone project on integrative leadership, and iteratively co-producing an understanding of what integrative leadership is. This is an interdisciplinary, 3-credit seminar led by co-instructors from multiple schools of the university. Students will: a) learn to recognize and diagnose integrative leadership challenges and opportunities; b) build their own capacities to practice integrative leadership through group work in individualized peer-to-peer coaching in diverse teams and through being exposed to a range of boundary work practices; and c) gain better knowledge of the leadership contexts within their own profession and in other sectors. We emphasize contexts for integrative leadership at five basic levels: within individuals, within and across groups, within and across organizations, within and across sectors, and at the societal scale. Learning occurs through reading foundational materials, personal leadership coaching, engaging extensively with examples from guest speakers and case materials, developing a group capstone project on integrative leadership, and iteratively co-producing an understanding of what integrative leadership is.
