Statistical and econometric methods for the analysis of large data sets to support managerial and policy decisions. Methods for organizing, accessing, and ensuring the quality of data. Estimation techniques include panel data methods, limited dependent variable models, and time series analysis. Clarity of reporting and design of procedures for maintaining and updating data estimates. prereq: 5031 or instr consent
Class Notes:
This course is considered hybrid, where student join the class remotely via Zoom on Tuesdays, and meet in person (in a computer lab) on Thursdays. Students have the option of attending Thursday computer labs remotely.
Class Description:
This course explores statistical and econometric methods for the analysis of large data sets to support managerial and policy decisions. Topics include: Methods for organizing, accessing, and ensuring the quality of data; Estimation techniques including panel data methods, limited dependent variable models, and time series analysis; Clarity of reporting and design of procedures for maintaining and updating data and estimates. Focus is on SAS programming. The intended audience is graduate students who have taken a masters level course in econometrics. Prerequisites: ApEc 5031 or instructor consent.
