The research will be applied in a complete National Register of Historic Places nomination form. Students will also learn how to measure buildings and draft plans using the HABS/HAER documentation system. Finally, students will learn the process for architectural/historic survey and will organize and conduct a survey of the Whittier neighbor-hood in Minneapolis. Material is presented through illustrated lectures, guest lecturers, related field trips/work, and class discussion. Topics covered include: primary research, National Register of Historic Places, architectural/historic surveys, historic context studies, building documentation, and fieldwork around the Twin Cities.
