- CourseShare course hosted by Penn State University. Received via video conferencing. Although there are no prerequisites, previous education in Ancient Egyptian history and civilization is recommended. This course is offered as a basic introduction to that stage in the evolution of the Egyptian language known as "Middle Egyptian" (used as a vernacular c. 2300 - 1700 B.C., and as a "literary" dialect c. 2200 - 1350 B.C.) as revealed and written in the hieroglyphic script.
